On December 7-8, the TUAC will hold a series of meetings including its Plenary Session, the annual Liaison Committee Meeting (LCM) with OECD ambassadors and directors, and a TUAC Round Table for the 40th Anniversary of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

The Plenary Session
The Plenary session will look back on the main activities in 2015, including the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Antalya in November (see evaluation here: http://www.tuac.org/en/public/e-docs/00/00/11/62/document_news.phtml), prepare the LCM and look ahead to the OECD Meeting of Employment Ministers in January and provide an update on the Colombia accession process. Moreover, ITUC General Secretary Sharan Burrow will take stock on the ongoing COP21 Climate Change Conference (look for more on Trade Union activities here: http://www.ituc-csi.org/climate-change ), while the newly elected ETUC General Secretary Luca Visentini will present the priorities for the labour movement at the European policy level.

The OECD Liaison Committee Meeting
Consultations between a TUAC delegation and the OECD Liaison Committee will be held around the theme “Inclusive growth: more and better jobs and reducing inequality”. The TUAC issued a background discussion paper in preparation of the meeting that was sent to OECD Directorates and Ambassadors (download the paper on the right hand side). The discussions will be structured along the lines of the paper by addressing the current economic and employment situation and inequality challenges. As the OECD recently launched a Centre for Opportunity and Equality, the TUAC explores possible avenues for cooperation to strengthen and mainstream the inclusive growth work stream across the organisation (for more information on the OECD Centre: http://www.oecd.org/inclusive-growth/about/centre-for-opportunity-and-equality/ ).

In a second round, the “Future of Jobs” will be discussed in view of the revision of the OECD Jobs Strategy from 1996 ( http://www.oecd.org/els/emp/boostingjobsandincomestheoecdjobsstrategy.htm ), trade union views on just transition, both in regard to climate and technological change connected to the OECD project on the “Next Production Revolution” (http://www.oecd.org/sti/ind/next-production-revolution.htm ) and the OECD Ministerial on the Digital Economy in June, in which the TUAC takes part (http://www.oecd.org/sti/dep-ministerial-2016.htm ).

TUAC Round Table for the 40th Anniversary of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises
On 8 December, TUAC is holding a preparatory Round Table on the 40th anniversary of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (2016), which will bring trade unionists together with OECD, government, business and NGO representatives to reflect on the ambitions of the past, the achievements to date, and the priorities for the future (more information here: http://www.tuac.org/en/public/e-docs/00/00/11/4E/document_news.phtml ).
