On the 30th September 2014, on the occasion of the ILO-OECD Roundtable on Responsible Supply Chains in the Textile and Garment Sector, TUAC and OECD Watch co-organised a side event on how to resolve the funding crisis affecting the payment of compensation to the victims of Rana Plaza in Bangladesh.

Trade unions and NGOs are calling on governments to seize the momentum and coordinate collective action to deliver the missing USD 20 million for the Rana Plaza Donors Trust Fund.

The event was attended by representatives from the Bangladesh Government, together with delegates from ten out of twelve target home governments including Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, UK and the US.

Participants agreed on the need for collective and coordinated future action.

For the meeting TUAC and OECD Watch released a publication on what governments and the OECD can do to resolve the funding crisis, which can be downloaded here.
