On the 9th of March in Washington DC, the workshop on Trade Unions, Income Inequality and Inclusion – the evidence and evolving roles will be organized in collaboration with the OECD Centre for opportunity and equality (COPE) as part of the TUAC/ ITUC working group on economic policy, hosted by the AFL-CIO.

The aim of the workshop is to assess the critical role that Trade Unions play in advocating effective equality of opportunities and in promoting inclusive growth, with a specific focus on finding policy solutions towards reducing income inequality, along with evaluating the impact of the Digital Economy on the quality of jobs. The workshop will bring together trade union speakers, OECD representatives and academics to discuss underlying issues and seek policy pathways that can ensure inclusive labour markets and create decent and secure jobs for everyone, in the light of persisting challenges in the aftermath of the global financial and economic crisis, as well as in view of technological change.

Speakers from the OECD, the IMF, the ETUC, the AFL-CIO, the Center for American Progress (CAP), the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) and many more will intervene over the course of the day.
